WHAT IS AN IBCLC?

IBCLC is the highest level credential for health care professionals who specialise in the clinical management of breastfeeding. We are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
To qualify as an IBCLC candidates are required to complete 90 hours of breastfeeding specific education, 1000 hours of clinical practice supporting breastfeeding mothers, as well as meet requirements for health science education (such as having a degree in nursing or midwifery). IBCLCs must also re-certify every five years.

IBCLCs support mothers at all stages of their breastfeeding journey including:
- antenatal education
- early establishment of breastfeeding
- managing nipple pain
- managing newborn weight loss
- assessing tongue function
- assisting mums who wish to combination feed
- supporting mums with expressing, returning to work & weaning
+ addressing any concerns you may have related to breastfeeding and early parenthood

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Family Love by a Mother and Her Two Daughters_edited_edited_edited.jpg

I would strongly recommend Alissa for anyone needing support with breastfeeding. Alissa gave us confidence but I didn't feel any pressure like I had from other support sources. My daughter is now thriving and we're enjoying our breastfeeding journey so much more. I'm so glad I sought help when I did!
